Anodizing is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts. The process is called anodizing because the part to be treated constitutes the anodizing electrode of an electrolytic cell. Anodizing increases corrosion and wear resistance and provides better adhesion to primers and glues than bare metal.
If glossy anodizing is chosen, some tool marks may be visible on the finished component.
We offer anodizing type II and III, which are ideal surface finishes for aluminum parts. Anodizing strengthens aluminum parts and is available in several colors, depending on the type. All types of anodizing will increase the lead time and cost per part.
By choosing matte anodizing, parts are shot-peened before the chemical process. This, from an aesthetic point of view, allows any tool marks to be hidden.
